Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

Colorado Startup Resources (“we”, “us”) is a project of Humans In Common, a Colorado corporation. This policy explains what information we collect when you use coloradostartupresources.com (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

We aim to collect as little as we need. You can browse the entire directory without an account.

Information we collect

When you browse

  • Usage data. We use Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used, for example which pages are visited and how people find us. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device and browser type, pages viewed, and the referring site. See how Google uses this information.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and request details to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse. We keep application logs for troubleshooting.
  • Preferences in your browser. If you choose light or dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It is not sent to us.

When you create an account

You can sign in with an email link, Google, or LinkedIn. We receive and store:

  • your email address;
  • your name and profile picture, if you sign in with Google or LinkedIn and they share them;
  • the resources you save to your account.

We do not receive your Google or LinkedIn password. Our authentication provider, Supabase, also records sign-in events (such as time and IP address) for security.

Your profile (optional)

You can add more to your profile, all optional: a photo, name, headline, pronouns, company or organization, website, LinkedIn, your Colorado county or region, a short bio, your roles, what you’re building and its stage, your sectors and interests, what you’re looking for and can offer, whether you’re open to testing new products, and your email preferences.

Profiles are private. Only you can see your profile. Photos you upload are stored privately and shown only to you. If we later offer a member directory or matching service, it will be opt-in: we won’t show your profile to anyone unless you choose to.

Community information. You can choose to tell us if you identify with certain communities (for example woman-owned, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, veteran, rural, youth, or Spanish-speaking). This is sensitive information. We collect it only if you choose to provide it, use it only to point you to programs and resources designed for those communities, never show it to other people, and never sell it or share it with anyone other than the providers who store it for us. You can remove it at any time by editing your profile.

When you contact us

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, organization (optional), the topic you choose, and your message. If you’re signed in, we also link the message to your account.

While you fill in the form, your browser temporarily keeps a copy, so your message isn’t lost if something goes wrong. That copy is deleted once the message is sent.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • run the Site and your account, including keeping you signed in and showing your collections of saved resources and your profile;
  • point you to resources that fit your profile, such as your location, stage, interests and needs;
  • respond to your messages, including sponsorship and listing requests;
  • understand how the Site is used, so we can improve it;
  • keep the Site secure and prevent spam and abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Cookies

We use:

  • Sign-in cookies (named sb-…), set only when you sign in, to keep you signed in. They’re required for accounts to work. A small csr_signed_in cookie also lets pages show “Account” instead of “Sign in”; it contains no personal information.
  • Google Analytics cookies (such as _ga), to measure how the Site is used.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking sign-in cookies will prevent you from signing in, but you can still browse the directory. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.

Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site, and only as needed for them to do that:

ProviderWhat it does for us
CloudflareHosting and security
SupabaseAccounts, saved resources and collections, and contact messages
ResendSending sign-in emails and delivering contact-form messages to us
GoogleAnalytics, and sign-in if you choose Google
LinkedInSign-in, if you choose LinkedIn

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Humans In Common.

These providers may process data in the United States and other countries.

How long we keep information

  • Account, profile, saved resources and collections: until you delete your account or ask us to. Removing a photo or clearing a profile field deletes it.
  • Contact messages: for as long as needed to respond and keep a record of our correspondence, generally no more than three years.
  • Analytics data: according to our Google Analytics retention settings.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • see the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct it (you can also edit your profile yourself at any time);
  • delete your account and the information associated with it.

Email contact@coloradostartupresources.com from the address associated with your account, and we’ll respond within 30 days. You can remove saved resources, and rename or delete your collections, at any time.

Organizations listed in the directory

The directory lists organizations, programs, and events using publicly available information, such as names, websites, descriptions, social media links, and screenshots of public websites. If you represent a listed organization and want its listing corrected or removed, contact us.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls that limit each account to its own data, and reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let account holders know.
