Breakthrough

Denver, Colorado

Breakthrough Alliance of Colorado is a 501c3 non-profit organization that transforms the lives of people with criminal histories and the community’s perception of the incarcerated population. Our holistic approach includes an in-facility career education program, community engagement, reentry support, a fair opportunity hiring program, and criminal justice advocacy initiatives.

Our 32-week in-facility program ‘The Challenge’ develops the soft-skills essential to personal and professional growth, teaches career readiness skills with a curriculum designed in partnership with Google Boulder, and cultivates the entrepreneurial mindset through class sessions and group work through Colorado State University. We welcome community members to join us as volunteers at three milestone events (Mock Interview Day, Business Pitch Bootcamp, and Graduation) to provide coaching and feedback to our participants, and help shift societal perceptions on incarcerated individuals.

After ‘The Challenge,’ the Breakthrough journey continues through our in facility alumni program ‘The Transformation.’ As alumni, participants can continue their personal and professional development by participating in quarterly workshops, or take the opportunity to showcase their knowledge and become an inspiration for new people entering the program by applying to be a Peer Facilitator.
